  1. Click Sign In (or Use These Settings) to continue.
  2. When logging-in to HMIS for the first time, you will be required to Accept the Terms of Agreement and then create a new confidential password with the following:
    • At least 8 characters
    • At least 1 capital letter
    • At least 1 number
    • At least 1 non-letter, non-number character

Never give your internet browser permission to save or remember your HMIS password in the future! If you're unable to log in, reach out to the Helpdesk.

Important Password Reminders:

  • Do Not Share HMIS Passwords: Sharing your HMIS username and password with anyone is never permitted and is a serious user violation.
  • Allow Pop-Ups: Ensure that web browser pop-up blockers are turned off. You may need to adjust your settings to allow pop-ups when you are on the HMIS ClientTrack site.

By following these steps, you will be able to successfully log-in to HMIS and choose the correct settings for your data entry tasks.

Setting your Password Recovery Question

Upon your first login to HMIS, you must add a security question in order to be able to request a password reset going forward. If a user does not set up their Password Recovery Question, they will be unable to reset their password if they forget it in the future!

  1. When you first login to HMIS, click the option to Update my Recovery Information in the pop-up where you are asked to change the temporary password.
  2. This will allow you to set your security question. If a user does not set up their Password Recovery Question, they will be unable to reset their password if they forget it in the future.
  3. Under Security Question, click Set
  4. You will be prompted to type a question and an answer to your security question.
  5. Select Save at the bottom of the screen.

By following these steps, you will secure your HMIS account with a new password and a security question, enhancing the protection of sensitive data.

  1. With your security question now set, from the HMIS login screen, you can now use the “Forgot password” function to reset your password if needed. Simply click the link, and follow the prompts.

Changing Security Settings

  1. Once logged in to HMIS, click on your initials at the top right corner of your screen to open your User Settings menu:

  1. At the bottom of the Settings menu bar, find and click on Security Settings:

  1. This will open up a new browser tab where you will enter your password (the new, more secure one you just created). Enter that password and then click Submit.

  1. Next, you will be provided with three options:
    1. Change your password: Use this option if you would like to change your password
    2. 2-Step Verification: For additional security, you can pair your HMIS account to an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator on your mobile device.
    3. Update your account recovery information: This option allows you to change your Password Security Question.
