Date of Engagement is collected by Street Outreach (SO), Services Only (SSO), and Emergency Shelter – Night-by-Night (ES-NbN) projects in HMIS.
What this is
Date of Engagement (DOE) records when a client becomes “engaged,” meaning you’ve built a relationship and started a formal assessment with them.
Follow these steps to document a Date of Engagement (DOE) in HMIS
- Select the Action Button next to the desired project.
- Select the Edit Enrollment option from the list.
- Scroll down to find the Household section of the page, and use the horizontal scroll bar to scroll all the way to the right to find the Date of Engagement column:
- Write in or use the calendar icon to complete the Date of Engagement:
- Click Save when finished.
Tips! 🚨
- You can only record one Date of Engagement between the time the project starts and ends. This date must be on or after the Project Start Date and before or on the Project Exit Date.
- If your project doesn't build this relationship before the client leaves, leave the Date of Engagement blank.
- If the client comes back after leaving, start a new project entry and record a new Date of Engagement if they become engaged again.
