What this is
Service Codes (or just “Services”) are used in HMIS to record support given to clients, such as financial assistance or case management. This article will show you how to add a Service for a client.
What you need to know
Add services in HMIS for enrolled clients when the service is provided, depending on your program requirements.
The following programs must record services:
- Minnesota Housing FHPAP
- Homework Starts with Home
- Hennepin Shelter Hotline
- Ramsey's Single Point of Entry
- Day Shelter projects
- Emergency Shelter-Night by Night (ES-NbN) projects that don't use the Facilities workspace
Follow These Steps
Important: 🚨 Make sure you client has an active enrollment or you will not be able to log a service for your program
- Open your Client's Record, then select Enrollment and Services, then Services:
- Click the Add New Service button:
- Complete the fields on the Service Form
- Only the fields with Red Asterisks are required.
ES-NbN projects that are tracking bed nights with Services must use one of the following Services:
- Housing Bednight
- Night-by-Night bed
- Emergency Shelter
These service codes are set as designated HUD Bed Night services, which means they will be counted as bed nights on reports to your funders as well as reports like the Point-in-Time count.
