Date Created: September 22, 2026
What this is
This article explains how to complete the Total Cost of Rent data collection form.
What you need to know
Total Cost of Rent was introduced as a new data element for projects funded by MN Housing Family Homeless Prevention and Assistance Program (FHPAP) on October 1st, 2026.
Following these steps
Total Cost of Rent needs to be collected for the head of household at exit for rapid rehousing (RRH) and homeless prevention (HP) projects.
You will want to create a project exit and work your way through the workflow. Once you get to the FHPAP Funding Assessment form, complete all the fields, including the Total Cost of Rent.

Enter the full amount of rent due each month. Count only the recurring payment made to live in the space. Do not include utility bills, deposits, or extra fees. Note: If rent is paid weekly or bi-weekly, average the numbers to reflect a monthly total.
