HMIS uses guided workflows to walk you through data entry. This article will help you understand common workflow features in HMIS.

What you need to know

Guided workflows help you complete data entry tasks like Intake & Enrollments, Updates, and Exits. Workflows are made up of rules, forms, and assessments custom to each process.

  1. When you click to start an Intake for a client, you will notice a guided workflow will be triggered:

  2. You can pause or cancel workflows. Cancelling a new workflow does not save your progress.

  3. As you work through the forms of a guided workflow, red asterisks indicate required questions:

  4. If move to the next form, but missed a required question, blue text will appear explaining what still needs to be entered:

  5. Using the Default Last button will pull in the most recently entered information for your client. Still ask your client for the most up-to-date answers.

  6. After moving through a workflow, click Finish to finalize your work. Missing this final step can create data quality issues for you later on.
